Welfare Benefits

DASH does not provide a Welfare Benefits Advice Service. However, our Information Service will be able to tell you where you can get specialist advice.

Are you claiming an incapacity benefit? Want to work? With our help you can.

Reed in Partnership have over ten years' experience of helping people to be Better Off Working. So far they have helped over 80,000 people back into work across the UK.

They have also launched the Pathways to Work programme in West London and have just opened a new office in Hillingdon. Pathways to Work is a free service for people claiming an incapacity benefit, providing support to help you move into work:

  • Your own personal adviser to be with you every step of the way.
  • Specialist help from people trained to assist you with any health problems you may have.
  • Help with training such as basic skills, English or job specific training.
  • Access to hundreds of jobs, including some that don't get advertised.
  • Advice and help on becoming self-employed.
  • Financial help with things like travel costs, interview clothes or equipment for work.
  • Support for six months after you start work to make sure everything's going ok.

Information on most benefits, together with downloadable forms and booklets, can be found on the
Department of Work and Pensions (DWP) website. DWP is the new name for DSS.

There are useful websites that give very good advice and information, and you might like to look at them before you fill any forms in. Always check that information found on the internet is up to date.

BenefitsandWork.co.uk has excellent downloadable guides for Incapacity Benefit, Attendance Allowance and Disability Living Allowance.

Citizens Advice Bureau have an advice guide website which includes the latest rates of benefit.
